And I never write out of order, but I had to get some stuff down."Īs far as research goes, Guillory spent time in wine country, and talked to people involved in the business. They're not exactly the same in the finished book, Guillory notes, because "I tend to do draft after draft when I'm writing," but a lot of "the key essence is still in those scenes. ![]() That these were a few scenes that I just had to start." And so in this book, there were probably four of them, and to a certain extent, I was working to get from one to the other to the other." With Drunk On Love, Guillory reveals, "this was really the first time that I had to write it down, even when I wasn't ready to write the book yet. "A lot of times, when I'm thinking through the beginnings of books, there are anywhere from three to five or six scenes that pop up in my mind, throughout the story. And so I hope people really love this book." What is Jasmine Guillory's writing process like? And exploring kind of a different universe, a different place that was not a big city, that was a different kind of workplace and different people. "I had so much fun living with Margot and Luke, in wine country, and kind of figuring out who they were, what made them tick. And as soon as I thought that, I just had a vision of exactly what the beginning of the book would be." And then, all of a sudden, I was like, I want to set a book in wine country. But as for what would come after? "I really had no idea, because this was the first time in a while that I was starting something brand new. I knew that By the Book, which is my most recent book, was going to come next," Guillory says. "When I finished While We Were Dating, I knew that that was kind of the end of the Wedding Date universe. And so it's them figuring that out while they have definite tension between the two of them and all sorts of emotions." What is the inspiration behind Drunk On Love? Margot definitely does not want her brother to know that she slept with their newest employee. So they have to work together having this hanging over their heads. "And then she gets to work the next day and discovers that her newest employee at her winery, who her brother hired while she was out of town, is Luke. "She ends up going home with him afterwards, they have a very fun one-night stand - or so Margot thinks," Guillory shares. The book begins with Margot, just back from a business trip, sitting at her best friend's bar and chatting with Luke, the man who sat down beside her. Set in Napa Valley's wine country, Drunk On Lovecenters around a small, family-owned winery owned by Margot Noble and her brother, Elliot. She says it promises to be another hit.$9 at Amazon What is Jasmine Guillory's new 2022 book, Drunk On Love about?
